Natasha & Shawn • Urban Autumn Engagement Session

I have a confession.

I actually love when clients are a bit nervous coming into their engagement session. This is exclusively because I can’t wait to show them just how laid-back and easy a photoshoot can be. Some people are nervous about it being too cheesy or being posed uncomfortably. I love seeing them ease into the session after seeing that the poses I use are natural and authentic to them as a couple. It’s like seeing someone completely let go and take a deep breath for the first time.

Natasha & Shawn were totally one of those couples. As much as I can tell clients what to expect in front of my camera, nothing can really ease fears like the real thing. Sometimes, it takes a “test run” to really relax clients into the idea of being photographed, and that’s ok!

These two beautiful souls wanted urban, raw and real for their session – so that’s exactly what we did. We explored, we laughed, we goofed around in the leaves. It was the best kind of easy. Natasha & Shawn are so full of joy and affection for each other, which made their session so seamless and fun. Part of what made this day so special is we were able to book their session for exactly a year away from their wedding date! Here’s hoping we get as great weather on the big day as we did for their session!

N & S – it was such a pleasure exploring this little corner of the city with you and I can’t wait for your big day this November!

All images from this session were photographed on Portra 400 film with Contax 645.
