6,048km in Australia

Australia, you beautiful, bright country, you.

This past February I had the opportunity to roadtrip through a fair portion of Australia. We visited many of the major cities: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and ended up back in Adelaide. I love how roadtripping leaves you able to stop whenever you feel like it and see sights outside of the major cities.

While Australia is similar to Canada in many ways, there were a few things that really stuck out to me and pushed me to fall in love with this gorgeous country. First, everyone I met had a stellar sense of humour and ability to pay out their “mates” at any moment. And don’t even get me started on the slang; it’s bizarre but again, wonderful. Avo, servo, Maccas, boot, cozzie, dead horse, mozzies, etc. (it goes on and on).

The beaches down under were numerous but you could find something uniquely breathtaking about each one. I could sit for hours and just watch the surfers catch one perfect wave after another. Category 5 cyclones won’t stop eager travellers from seeking entertainment on eastern shores. We ran in the pouring rain up to the Byron Bay lighthouse to see the views, which, even in a massive thunderstorm, were perfection.

Australia, I leave you bronzed, addicted to RaspberryChocs, and with feelings of peace. Our time together went by faster than anticipated for a two month adventure, but you will always have a place in my heart.
